Honestly, if you’re white, China is a great country for you to come to. Being a Korean-American doesn’t really get you anywhere, I mean everyone assumes I’m Chinese and even when I tell them I’m American nobody believes me.
On the other hand, all my white friends all have crazy jobs just because of the color of their skin. It’s amazing. I have friends that model for so many emerging clothing brands, friends who do runway walks, lookbooks, friends who get paid to just go to clubs and socialize with the Chinese people, friends who get paid to sing Chinese songs(even though they can’t sing at all). You can get paid to do pretty much anything if your skin is white!
There’s a company in Shanghai and Beijing that rents out white people, yes rents them out to show up for grand openings for schools, restaurants, or to show up for important company meetings, etc. It’s a booming business and it just shows you how bizarre the Chinese way of thinking really is. Good for all my friends here though, I keep telling them how lucky they are and to milk every dollar they can.
